The Eclipsed Sanctuaries - Storytelling 3D Printable Scenery

The sun went out at noon. It came back a few minutes later, but the city never trusted it again.
Introduction
For as long as anyone kept records, the city on the hill prayed to the sun. The Patriarch sat on his throne under a crown of rays, the Herald looked down the eastern road, and stone maidens held up a fire that nobody was allowed to let go out. Every temple door faced the sunrise. The priests had one promise and they repeated it at every feast: the sun always comes back.
Then, in the middle of the summer feast, the moon slid across it. The birds went quiet. The fire in the caryatids' bowl was suddenly the brightest thing in the city, and for a few long minutes nobody on the temple steps knew whether the promise would hold. It held, and the sun came back. The priests did not get their city back.
A woman who said she had seen the darkness coming took the temples one by one. She put the moon on the pediments and built a rotunda for watching the night sky. For the next eclipse, she raised a gate. People called her the Eclipse Queen, and she let them. The Herald was pulled off its pedestal. The oldest temple was walled shut, with whatever the old priests kept inside.
Her reign was shorter than theirs. Today her stone head lies in the grass a short walk from the Herald's, and roots are climbing the columns of both faiths. Her gate is still standing. It is waiting for an eclipse that is long overdue. Pilgrims come on eclipse days. They are not always the only ones there.
Welcome to "The Eclipsed Sanctuaries", a collection of 3D-printable STL files with the ruins of that city. It brings together two sets that were originally monthly releases for members of my Patreon and my Tribe on MyMiniFactory: The Sunlit Ruins and Eclipsed Sanctuaries. This is the first time they are available on Kickstarter. The Base Set is the city of the sun, and the Stretch Goals add what the Eclipse Queen built on top of it.
The architecture is classical: columns, rotundas, caryatids and temple fronts worn down by time, with the statues of the old gods still standing (or lying) among them. Use it as a forgotten shrine in Dungeons & Dragons, a field of broken monuments in Warhammer: Age of Sigmar or the old heart of a city in Conquest: The Last Argument of Kings.
As always, this is storytelling scenery. Every model comes with a piece of history your players can trip over: who walled up the oldest temple, and why two stone heads lie in the grass a few steps apart.
Everything here is 100% Human Made. I sculpted every model myself, from the first sketch to the last test print.
Campaign Content Overview
This campaign offers only digital rewards in the form of STL files. Physical models will be available in the future from Merchants, who can also obtain a commercial license through this campaign.
What's in the campaign:
- The Base Set of The Eclipsed Sanctuaries: nine models, presented one by one below
- Stretch Goals unlocked as the campaign progresses. Every unlocked model is added to every pledge at no extra cost
- Two paid Add-ons making their Kickstarter debut: "The Drowned Kingdom" and "Relics of the Old Kings"
- Seven Late Pledge Add-ons from my previous campaigns
- The ALL-IN Lost Kingdoms Pledge: the Base Set and both new Add-ons for €36 instead of €46, or €32 for the first 50 backers
- A Merchant Pledge with a perpetual commercial license, and a commercial version of every Add-on
Printing:
All models in this campaign are designed for FDM printing, and none of them need supports. A few are split into parts that you glue together after printing. The Radiant Goddess comes in two versions: the default one prints in two parts without supports, and the optional one-piece version needs supports generated in your slicer.
Everything is scaled for 28-32 mm miniatures.
All files were test-printed several times in PLA, at 0.16 mm and 0.2 mm layer height, on the Elegoo Centauri Carbon.
100% Human Made:
Every model and every piece of artwork in this campaign was made by a human, and that human is me. No generative AI was used at any stage: not for sculpting, not for concept work, not for the graphics on this page.
When and how rewards will be delivered:
I start sending rewards about two weeks after the campaign ends. STL files go out through Gumroad links first, followed by delivery to your MyMiniFactory Library.
Files are sent to the email address you use on Kickstarter. If your MyMiniFactory account uses a different address, send me a private message and I will sort it out.
About the pictures:
Some of the models in the pictures come from Stretch Goals. The final files may differ slightly from the renders, because I keep improving them during the campaign. The hooded miniature next to the models is there for scale only and is not included in this campaign.
What's Included
The Base Set is the city as the sun priests left it, down to the fire that was never supposed to go out. Nine models, from scatter to full temple fronts:
- Solar Shrine. A small temple with a sun on the pediment, two columns at the door and a tiled roof.
- The Radiant Herald. The head and shoulders of a colossal statue with a crown of sun rays, broken off and leaning on what is left of its wall.
- Ruined Dawn Chapel. An arched gateway with a sun on the pediment, and behind it the walls of a chapel where a sun banner still hangs.
- Solar Patriarch. The father of the old gods on his throne, with a halo of rays behind his head.
- Sunlit Remnants. Broken columns and wall sections to fill the gaps between the bigger ruins.
- Sunlit Shrine of Wisdom. A helmeted bust of the goddess of wisdom on a carved plinth, in a ring of broken columns.
- The Caryatid Torch. Stone maidens holding up the city's fire bowl, in several heights.
- The Sealed Temple. A temple front built into the hillside, with a sun wheel above a door that nobody has opened in a long time.
- The Radiant Goddess. A goddess with a sun disc in her crown, in a ruined niche. Prints in two parts without supports, or in one piece with supports.
Stretch Goals
The Stretch Goals are the Eclipse Queen's part of the city: the shrines she raised over the old faith, her own statue and the gate she built for the next eclipse. Every unlocked model is added to every pledge at no extra cost, whether you pledged on day one or in the last hour.
- €1,500: Moonbound Column. A column crowned with a crescent moon, with roots climbing all the way up.
- €2,500: Moonlit Rotunda. A round domed temple with the moon on its pediment, built for watching the night sky.
- €3,000: The Eclipse Queen. Her colossal head, toppled and half sunk in the ground. The band across her forehead shows the sun between two crescents.
- €4,000: The Eclipse Gate. An arch carried by two caryatids, with the eclipse sign on the pediment: a crescent inside a ring.
With all four unlocked, you have the whole city: the temples of the sun and everything the Eclipse Queen built over them.
Paid Add-ons
Nine paid add-ons are available in this campaign, each one in a personal and a commercial version.
Two of them are new to Kickstarter: The Drowned Kingdom and Relics of the Old Kings. Like the Base Set, both were originally monthly rewards for members of my Patreon and Tribe on MyMiniFactory, and this is the first time they are available outside that subscription. Both are included in the ALL-IN Lost Kingdoms Pledge.
The other seven are Late Pledges of my previous campaigns. If you are new here, this is the cheapest way to catch up on the earlier chapters.
The Drowned Kingdom Add-on
The eclipse was not the only thing the kingdom lost that day. On the coast, the sea drew back while the sun was dark, and when the light returned the water came back with it. It went over the quays and the colonnades, all the way up to the Pearl Throne, and it never left. What is down there now belongs to barnacles, coral and at least one very large crab.
Ten files, more than 20 printable pieces, for anything from a drowned district to a reef dungeon.
Part of this set reworks models from my older Sunken City, which was an add-on in City of Life: The Veiled Grove. If you own Sunken City, some of the models will look familiar, and the rest are new.
Models included in this set:
Relics of the Old Kings Add-on
The old kings of the land between two rivers knew eclipses long before the city on the hill was built. They called the sun Shamash and the moon Sin, and put both at the top of their obelisks. They also took eclipses personally. When the sky went dark at a bad moment, the king stepped down, a substitute sat on the throne for up to a hundred days to catch the bad omen, and the real king waited it out. Once, the real king died before the hundred days were up, and the substitute, a gardener, simply kept the crown.
What is left of those kings is stone: winged lamassu at the gates, ramparts, an obelisk and the altar at the top of the ziggurat. Seven Babylonian-inspired models that stand well next to the Base Set, or on their own as the ruins of an older empire.
Models included in this set:
LATE PLEDGES
Bone Dominion: The Sunless Lands - Late Pledge
This is a Late Pledge for my most recent campaign, Bone Dominion: The Sunless Lands. Bone, chitin and architecture that looks grown rather than built. The Base Set alone has over 35 printable files, from small scatter you can print in half an hour to buildings that take up a good piece of the table, and every Stretch Goal unlocked during the campaign is included on top of that.
Like the rest of my recent sets, it is FDM first: most models print without supports, the rest use minimal hand-made pre-supports, and every pre-supported file also comes in a supportless version.
Successfully funded in September 2026 by 206 backers. Available with a personal or a commercial license.
Details of this project can be found here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/3dhexes/bone-dominion-the-sunless-lands
Cathedral: The Sunless Lands - Late Pledge
This is a Late Pledge for an earlier chapter of the series, and the place where the story of the Sunless Lands began. A towering cathedral façade inspired by the paintings of Zdzisław Beksiński, with grim statues, dramatic architecture and practical scatter, including all Stretch Goals unlocked during that campaign.
Bone Dominion grew in the shadow of this cathedral. The two sets were designed for the same world and the same table, so if you are picking up one of them, the other is its natural pair.
Successfully funded in May 2025 by 262 backers. Available with a personal or a commercial license.

Crossroads: The Fortress of Steel and Bone - Late Pledge
This is a Late Pledge for my campaign from July 2024, successfully funded thanks to the support of 225 backers.
Steel riveted onto bone, gates braced with ribs, walls that were half forged and half grown. Of everything in my catalogue, this set sits closest to Bone Dominion in spirit, and the two mix on the table without any effort. Available with a personal or a commercial license.
Details of this project can be found here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/3dhexes/crossroads-the-fortress-of-steel-and-bone
Echoes of the Forgotten Grove - Late Pledge
This is a Late Pledge for my campaign from April 2026, successfully funded thanks to the support of 160 backers.
The set has stone animal statues, overgrown ruins, druidic relics and nature-themed scatter, for groves, forgotten shrines and hidden enclaves deep in the wild. Available with a personal or a commercial license.
Details of this project can be found here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/3dhexes/echoes-of-the-forgotten-grove-storytelling-tabletop-scenery
Crossroads: Fungal Tunnels - Late Pledge
This is a Late Pledge for the first chapter of the Crossroads series - a smaller, more affordable line of storytelling scenery. An underground mushroom biome for your table: cave rocks, stalagmites and crystals, modular mushrooms you can mix and match, and giant mushroom houses big enough to anchor a whole encounter.
The set is built in three parts. Rocks and Crystals brings 26 models of cave rocks, stalagmites, crystals and pipe mushrooms, from small scatter to floor-to-ceiling columns. Modular Mushrooms gives you 7 bases, 9 caps and 6 plain stipes - every cap fits every base, so no two caves have to look the same. Giant Mushrooms and Houses adds 2 mushroom houses, 2 giant mushrooms and one huge cave mushroom with alternative bases.
Designed for FDM, supports free, and test printed on three different printers before release. Whether you are running a myconid grove, a drow trade road or a fungal wasteland, this is the terrain the tunnels are made of.
Successfully funded in December 2023 by 403 backers. Available with a personal or a commercial license.

Echoes: Amethyst Oasis - Late Pledge
This is a Late Pledge for one of my earlier Kickstarter campaigns, Echoes: Amethyst Oasis. You get the scenery models from that campaign, including the Stretch Goals listed in the campaign's model list. It comes with both a non-commercial personal license and a commercial one. It funded back in September 2023 thanks to 641 backers.
Out of everything I've sculpted, Amethyst Oasis is the one I'm proudest of. It took me longer than any campaign before or since, and I put more of myself into it than into anything else I've made. I printed and painted every single model in it myself before the files went out. That's a slow way to work and I don't do it for every release, but a brush tells you things a render never will: which shape still reads from across the table, and which detail just disappears at 0.16mm. A lot of how I design terrain today came out of those months.
The pictures here are new. The set is from 2023 and the old renders were made with a much simpler setup, so I re-rendered the whole thing for the Bone Dominion campaign. What you see is what's in the files.
The set is also very modular, especially on the temple side. You can put the buildings together the way your table needs them, then take them apart and store them flat.
Some of the buildings have full interiors. Those also come in a second version without the interior, in case you only want the outer shell and a shorter print.
None of the models in this set need supports.
Floating Islands - Late Pledge
This is a Late Pledge for Riddle: Floating Islands, my campaign from October 2022, successfully funded thanks to the support of 520 backers.
Islands torn loose from the ground and left hanging in the sky, with everything that was built on them still clinging to the rock. It is the largest add-on on this page: six sets in one bundle.
The Arcane Set and the Desolation Set form the core of the collection. One side still holds its elven architecture, the other is stripped down to bare stone and rubble. Both come with matching scatter terrain.
The Temple of Illumination is included in two versions. The first is simplified, without interiors, quick to print and to assemble, meant for wargaming tables. The second is larger, built from more parts, and has fully playable interiors.
Crystal Hill and Ruins of Enlightenment add further terrain pieces that work on any table, and Elven Watchtowers closes the collection with modular tower designs plus three smaller elven buildings.
None of these files need supports.
This is the brightest set on this page. If your campaign ever heads somewhere sunnier and higher up, this is the terrain that covers it. Available with a personal or a commercial license.
Commercial License
Some of the people reading this page do not want these models for their own table. They want to print them and sell them to other players. That is what the Merchant tiers are for, and this chapter explains exactly what you are buying.
I keep this simple on purpose. There is no contract to sign, no form to fill in, no registry to join and no yearly fee. You pledge to a Merchant tier, you get the license, you start selling. In return I ask you to respect one line, and everything below is just that line explained:
You are buying the right to sell prints. You are not buying the files.
What you can do
Sell prints. Physical 3D prints of the models from this set, painted or unpainted, on any platform: your own store, Etsy, eBay, a convention table, your local game shop.
Fit the models to your printer. Scale them up or down for the game you serve, and cut large models into parts if they do not fit your build plate.
Advertise with pictures. Your own photos of your own prints, always and freely. You may also use my official renders and graphics, but only to advertise prints you are actually licensed to sell.
Credit me. "Designed by 3DHexes" somewhere in the listing or the post is enough. It costs you nothing, and it is how new customers find both of us.
What you cannot do
Do not pass on the files. No selling, sharing, gifting, leaking, uploading or trading the STL files. Not as a bonus with an order, not with a friend who also prints, not in exchange for prints or services. This is the one that ends a license immediately.
Do not cast or mold. Silicone molds, resin casting, metal casting and injection molding are all outside this license. It covers 3D printing, and only 3D printing.
Do not mass-produce. The license covers printing on printers you run yourself, at the scale of a small shop or a home print farm. Factory-scale production, or handing the job over to a manufacturer, is outside it. If you are not sure where the line is, ask me.
Do not remix. Scaling and splitting are fine. Merging my models with other models, sculpting on top of them, cutting them into new products or releasing modified versions is not. If you need a change, message me first. I usually say yes.
Do not use the models for anything other than printing. No illustrations, no book covers, no video game assets, no board game components, no NFTs, and no feeding my files, renders or photos into AI training or AI generation. This whole campaign is 100% Human Made and I intend to keep it that way.
Do not crowdfund with my content. No Kickstarter, Gamefound, Indiegogo or anything similar, in whole or in part.
Do not claim my work as your own. You are licensed to sell prints of my designs. That does not make you the designer, my partner, or an official 3DHexes store. If you want to show customers that you are properly licensed, ask me for the Licensed Merchant badge described below. That is exactly what it is for.
What the license covers
The Merchant Pledge licenses The Eclipsed Sanctuaries Base Set with every Stretch Goal unlocked during this campaign.
Every Add-on is licensed separately: the two new ones, "The Drowned Kingdom" and "Relics of the Old Kings", and all seven Late Pledges. Each has its own commercial version in the Add-ons section, so pick the ones you plan to sell.
The rest of my catalogue stays outside this license.
The license is non-exclusive, non-transferable and perpetual. Non-exclusive means other merchants sell the same prints, and you should price with that in mind. Non-transferable means it stays with you and does not move to a new owner if you sell or close your business. Perpetual means it never expires and there is nothing to renew. You buy it once and you sell for as long as you want.
What you get from me besides the license
Selling prints is easier with decent pictures, so if you want them, just ask and I will send you:
- High resolution renders and graphics of the models, ready for your listings
- My logo
- A "3DHexes Licensed Merchant" badge for your store page
All of it is free, none of it is obligatory, and you can ask for it at any point after the campaign. Message me and tell me what you need.
How to get a license in this campaign
For the Base Set, pledge to the Merchant tier, or to Early Merchant while it lasts.
For "The Drowned Kingdom", "Relics of the Old Kings" or any Late Pledge, add the commercial version of that Add-on to your pledge.
Pledging to a Merchant tier means you accept the terms above. Nothing else is required from you.
One last thing
I have been making STL files for over eight years, and almost every merchant I have worked with in that time has been a decent person running a small business. That is the only reason this license can read like common sense instead of a legal document. It stays this short because people do not abuse it.
So if you want to do something that is not described above, do not guess. Send me a message and ask, and you will have an answer quickly. And if the terms are broken, I reserve the right to revoke a Commercial License at any time. Redistributing, reselling or claiming ownership of my files is copyright infringement, and I treat it as exactly that.
