How to Play
Discard dungeon has 2 main phases of gameplay: delving and combat. During the dungeon delving phase, you will be buying useful cards, discarding excess cards for resources, and keeping an eye on the threat of the enemies. You won't be able to afford everything that looks good, so you have to make tough decisions on what cards will help you out, and which ones you can afford to pass up on.
The 4 types of cards you will encounter include: weapons to enhance your offense and defense in combat, spells for a variety of helpful, instantaneous benefits, talents for passive effects or adding new rules into play, and enemies who will try to attack you.
Every card you gain has limited usability, indicated by the number of dots on the bottom. Plan ahead so that you can make the best use of your limited time together, once they break, they are gone for good.
When combat is initiated, the player will roll 3 dice, then decide how to allocate these numbers. Weapons are powered by dice: Using a 6 on a weapon such as Toxic Blade will deal 6 damage to the enemy. Some weapons may have bonus abilities, apply status effects, gain you HP or block, and some will have restrictions on which numbers fit in that weapon at all.
In this example, the Ninja player is fighting the Dryad. They slot a 6 into the Toxic Blade dealing 6 damage and applying 1 poison, at the cost of spending 1 durability from their weapon. Then the Dryad's ability will cause the Ninja to lose 1 gold, that pest!
The Valkyrie
A fierce and reckless bear who prefers aggression above all else. She deals high damage, usually at the cost of her own well-being. Battle scars can be healed after all.
The Valkyrie focuses on dealing high damage, and acquiring powerful weapons to aid in that goal, however many of her cards have a downside to play around, such as self-damage, bruises, and burns. Bruise tokens will make you or your enemy take extra damage every hit, great for speeding up their defeat. Burn tokens will accelerate how quickly your weapons run out of durability. Thankfully, she's also got a few cards that can turn these downsides into potential upsides: A weapon that wants to run out of durability fast, a shield that blocks more damage if you are ailed, and a talent that activates upon taking damage. Managing these downsides, or even playing into them, are key to pushing this character to her limits.
The Ninja
A stealthy and crafty frog who poisons foes and avoids incoming damage. When he’s not inhibiting enemies, he’s stealing items for cheaper than their listed price.

The Ninja Excels at taking a tactical approach to combat and item acquisition. He can apply a damage-over-time poison to tick down enemy HP while dodging the damage they try to deal back. This character will often unleash many small attacks which quickly add up in damage. Some cards can deal damage and/or poison to several enemies at a time setting up for easier fights down the line. Just watch out for enemies who can heal, as that will cleanse any poison you worked so hard for. There are a few very high impact cards hidden in the deck that are difficult to buy or set up, but can really turn the tide of a run. Luckily the Ninja is a master theif who can reduce the cost of whatever card he's got his eyes on.
