The hand-crafted hardwood board, with its smooth edges and waxed playing surface is sure to grab your guests attention. And once they've asked, it's only natural to play a game.. or four!

Why is Carrooka back on Kickstarter?
This officially licensed "Compact" version of Carrooka is brand new and only manufactured in the UK. This Kickstarter campaign will help us to launch not only Carrooka Compact but to bring the manufacturing of all styles of Carrooka boards back home!

We are not only offering a physical game. 
We are dedicated to the on-going support of the hobby and are excited to grow the community around it. This will include convention attendance, tournaments and demo days (These are all still in the works and will not be offered immediately.. unfortunately) 

Who are Fire Newt?
Fire Newt is a father and son run business that has so far been focused on laser cutting / engraving. When we first met the inventors of Carrooka, Jack and George Furnival, at the UK Games Expo in 2026, we knew we wanted to be a part of the board games industry. And we certainly wanted to be a part of Carrooka's story!
It was at this time we learned that Jack and George were stepping back from making regular boards after 5 years of hard work and passion; They may not look a day over 30 but they were ready to retire and focus on their family. Instead, they were only going to produce tournament boards from then on.

At first our business relationship focused on Fire Newt fabricating specific shapes and patterns for Jacks HUGE tournament boards (Find them here, they're amazing! - https://carrooka.com/shop-2026) 

However, when our director John asked the question about UK manufacturing, we learned that there were no UK companies taking up the mantle to continue the production of regular Carrooka boards. We chanced our luck and ... They said yes! After a lot of meetings and discussing how Carrooka intends to go forward, we have landed on Carrooka Compact!

What is different between a regular Carrooka Board and Carrooka Compact?
Standard Carrooka boards measure an impressive 810mm in diameter. 
Pool8 and Carrooka Compact boards measure in at 680mm.  

Other than the size, the only thing that changes is the style of printing. We UV print directly onto the board whereas previous boards were screen printed. 

We use the exact same wood from the exact same supplier and have sourced as many of our materials as we can from those that are already trusted by both Carrooka HQ and you, the players, customers and fans. 

Where we can no longer obtain certain materials, we have done our very best to find like for like parts that live up to our standards. 
We strive for the same excellence that has been delivered by Jack and George for the past 5 years. 

I already own a Pool8 Board, should I back this? 
In our biased opinion? Yes! 

Honestly.. It depends. 
The difference between your Pool8 board and the Carrooka Compact is only in the print. The top surface design is that of a traditional green board*. The "Snooker" version of the game. If you would like to play that version AND pool, then the Compact will allow for both. 

*We will be offering custom coloured and "Plain" boards at retail.

I already own a Carrooka Board, should I back this? 
As with the answer above, it depends entirely on your preference. The compact offers the same game you know and love, but with a smaller footprint. 

I want to support the campaign but don't want a physical board.
In that case, Kickstarter allows you to back the campaign without choosing a rewards tier. That way you can set exactly how much you would like to pledge.

We are so so grateful for any support. Big or small. We are not just trying to sell a product, but grow a community and we thank you ever so much for your part in it! 

What does the delivery schedule look like?
As we are the only UK manufacturers of this product, we don't have to wait for overseas production and fulfilment. We can hit the ground running as soon as the campaign ends. 

All backers will be placed on the waiting list in order. This is to ensure that those who backed first, get their boards first. 

Christmas Tier Backers - Any backers that choose the Christmas 2026 pledge will have their boards made and shipped by the 10th of December 2026. We will be using couriers rather than standard mail providers and this should* ensure that your boards arrive in time for Christmas. 

(*Please note that we can not make guarantees on behalf of the courier company and therefore can not guarantee that your board will arrive before December 25th. We do however promise to have the board made and in their hands with plenty of time. We are continuing to use the global courier network that has successfully provided Carrooka boards for the past 5 years without issue)

Everyone Else - As mentioned all other backers will be placed on the waiting list in backer order. We are estimating a production rate of 40 boards per month but this can rapidly increase to meet demands. We will be keeping all backers fully aware as to the status of their position in the queue and the estimated wait times that they can expect. 

What colours can I choose from for the Choose your own background colour tier?
You may select any colour in the Pantone colour chart (https://www.pantone-colours.com/).
